  1. 2006

    Low-temperature plasma research begins

In 2006, a group of engineers began developing a new sterilization technology: a low-temperature, hydrogen-peroxide plasma sterilizer. The work was carried out alongside medical professionals, with the aim of a sterilizer that was dependable, safe and straightforward to use.

  2. 2008

    First plasma sterilizer introduced

Sterifast introduced its first plasma sterilizer to the market in 2008 — at the time, the third plasma sterilization technology available in the market.

  3. 2013

    EcoPlasma introduced

In 2013, Sterifast introduced EcoPlasma and OZOPlasma, two plasma sterilization technologies developed with a lower hydrogen peroxide concentration than earlier systems. EcoPlasma used a 35% H2O2 concentration.

  4. 2019

    Sterilization rolls and pouches

In 2019, Sterifast began producing its own sterilization rolls and pouches.

  5. 2020

    Sterilization indicators

In 2020, Sterifast began producing its own chemical and biological sterilization indicators.

Continued research and development

Development of Sterifast's plasma sterilization technology has continued alongside medical professionals and regulatory agencies. This work has included securing patents related to the technology.

A broader infection-control portfolio

Alongside its sterilizers, Sterifast's work expanded into related infection-control products, including chemical and biological indicators and medical packaging solutions — extending the same sterilization expertise across the wider reprocessing process.

Sterifast today

Sterifast's sterilization technology is now used internationally. The company continues to develop its plasma sterilization technology and its wider range of sterilization and infection-control products.
